Chargers Out Of Playoffs

Chargers beat themselves. I'm not sure if I will be watching anymore football this year after yesterday's game. It doesn't even interest me. I'm just c/p this and leaving it at that...

Mistakes and missed opportunities were plentiful for the Chargers, and plenty costly. A rundown:

FIRST QUARTER, 10:59

Error: New England faces 3rd-and-8 from its 12. Tom Brady's pass is tipped high and right to Clinton Hart, but he can't make the interception.

Outcome: Instead of taking over deep in Patriots territory, the Chargers allow them to punt.

FIRST QUARTER, 5:21

Error: On 4th-and-11 at the New England 30, Marty Schottenheimer goes for it rather than calling for a 47-yard field-goal try. Philip Rivers is sacked, and fumbles in the process.

Outcome: No points, and the Patriots take over at their 35.

THIRD QUARTER, 5:32

Error: Eric Parker muffs a punt, and is tackled as he tries to pick it up and run with it. New England's David Thomas recovers.

Outcome: The turnover sets up a 34-yard FG to cut the Chargers' lead to 14-13.

THIRD QUARTER, 4:30

Error: Three plays after Parker's muffed punt, Brady is sacked, fumbles and the Patriots recover. But Drayton Florence head-butts Patriots tight end Daniel Graham for a 15-yard penalty and an automatic first down.

Outcome: Instead of 4th-and-21 from the 37, the Patriots have 1st-and-10 at the 18, leading to the field goal.

FOURTH QUARTER, 6:25

Error: Trailing 21-13 and facing 4th-and-5, the Patriots go for it, and Brady's pass is intercepted by Marlon McCree. But McCree tries to return it instead of batting it away or falling down after the catch.

Outcome: Troy Brown strips McCree and Reche Caldwell recovers for the Patriots at the Chargers 32. Five plays later, Brady hits Caldwell for a TD, and the two-point conversion ties the score at 21.

The headbutt and the fumble after the pick on fourth were killers. I was afraid to come to the site yesterday fearing all that I would find would be a suicide note.

Stupid Patriots

Quite possibly the worst loss in Chargers history...yes, even worse then the Super Bowl only because in this game the other team didn't beat the Chargers.
