Shawne Merriman decided today to have surgery and not play the 2008 season. Merriman said he didn't feel right and felt it would be best if he would shut it down for the year and get surgery.
The rest of the Charger defense will need to step up to fill his void especially his replacement who just signed a nice 4 year deal with the Chargers, Jyles Tucker.
